About Ted
Guiding drummers thru the steps of this journey is extremely fulfilling and the more I teach the more energy I get from it. This isn't my backup plan this is my calling and I embrace every chance to teach because I know that we're always on the verge of breaking through to the next level of your musical destination.

It's always about working on what the student wants to get better at musically.
I focus on new and intermediate students because I want to light the fire for drums (and music) that will hopefully last their lifetime.
First step is to meet with the teacher to make sure that you're comfortable with their communication skills. Second is that you need to feel confident that the teacher can help you reach your goals. Energy, knowledge and patience are what you're looking for in a teacher / mentor.
A student recently was able to play a challenging groove he had been struggling with for a couple of weeks. It was extremely satisfying to see his hard work pay off and I couldn't have been prouder of him!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
There are no bad questions to bring to a lesson, but some good ones may be:
Do I have any goals I want to accomplish with drums and music?
How much time do I have to commit to learning the drums?
Can I push myself thru when something feels awkward and unnatural?

Perfect! My 8 year old son is currently taking lessons with Ted and it has been a great experience for both of us. Ted works well with him and provides a great balance between lesson and fun to encourage his progress and keep him engaged.
Perfect! I've enjoyed my experience with instructor Ted LaVine. He is very receptive to new students (adult beginners). I find him encouraging and informative. Plan on continuing with his instruction.
