About Carlos
Carlos Duran
A versatile drummer and percussionist with experience in jazz, rock, Latin, and African rhythms, Carlos received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from The Florida State University in 2006.
As a professional musician, Mr. Duran has served as percussion accompanist for a variety of modern and African dance programs including those at The Ohio State University, The Florida State University, Dennison University, Kenyon College, BalletMet, and Belmont University.
For the past decade, Carlos has provided drum set and percussion instruction to a variety of students of all ages and performance levels out of his home studio, online, and at community music academies.
Currently residing in central Tennessee, Carlos is a teaching artist at Global Education Center, a nonprofit organization in Nashville, through which he facilitates outreach community programs.
He is also the director of the West African Ensemble at the University School of Nashville and has taught privately at Zack’s Music Shop in Dickson for the past six years.
