About Katherine
I offer an engaging and active approach to tutoring. Children learn quickly and recall information more easily when they learn through play. I make learning fun! I received my bachelor's in education, with a minor in ESL, in 2008. I've spent the last 11 years with children as a mother, tutor, and online educator.
In high school I taught ballet, tap, and theater to young children to afford the extra curricular activities I enjoyed. I always had a desire to teach and be like the amazing teachers I had all through school. Once in college I wasn't sure what I wanted to major in because I am interested in sip many things. That's how I landed in elementary education. I would then be able to teach English, art, history, PE, and science.
Bachelor's degree in elementary education (K-8) in 2008.
Minor in TESOL: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

I always spend a few minutes getting comfortable with each other. We will introduce ourselves and play a game. I'll let the student ask me a few questions and I'll ask them a few questions. Our first lesson will then be all about figuring out what they need help with through a series of short assessments.
My experience teaching is mostly with children ages 5 to 11. I adore working with middle school aged students as well.
