About Maia
I am dedicated to helping students reach their fullest potential. I am a 3rd grade reading teacher in Baltimore. I graduated from Towson University with a dual degree and certification in Elementary Education and Special Education. I have experience teaching reading, math, science, and social studies from 1st grade to 5th grade. Reading is my specialty, since it is what I have the most experience with. My experience in special education has developed my abilities to individualize learning to best meet the needs of my students.
Ever since I can remember, I have been passionate about working with children. Becoming a teacher is what I have always wanted to do.
I am presently a 3rd grade reading teacher. I have a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Towson University. I am certified to teach General Education 1st through 5th grade and Special Education 1st through 6th grade. I have completed training for the Wilson Fundations phonics program and Guided Reading, which utilizes small group instruction.

I believe it is essential to understand what type of learner a student is whether that be an audio, visual, or kinesthetic learner. Once that is established I will be able to design individualized instruction.
I have worked with a variety of students with diverse backgrounds and abilities. I have experience with students that have learning disablites. I also have worked with ESOL students whose home language is Spanish.
