About Angela
What sets Edgemoore apart from others is we genuinely like kids—which is foundational for their overall success. We take time in getting to know our students and how they learn best. I obtained your email from a fellow teacher at Twin Rivers and felt inclined to reach out to you in regards to the impact you have had on my life. Throughout my K-12 career, you and your class had the most monumental impact on me as a student, writer, and person. You taught me how to write, bringing my writing test scores from 3's and 4's to perfect 5's across the board. Because of your dedication and investment in my education, I have decided to follow a path in Mass Communications with a minor in Convergence Journalism and a focus in Creative Writing. You taught me to believe in myself and my words, both in writing and verbally through writing exercises, Socratic seminars, and unconditional support. Before getting started, we will spend the first session on recognizing what you are doing well and the areas you feel you need support. We will also complete some activities to help us determine your current level of instruction.
We have interacted with a variety of students. We have high expectations for all our learners. All students can learn and should only be measured by their own past performances.
Before hiring a teacher to support you, make sure that they have your best interest in mind. It will be important that the instruction is interactive and requires you to think critically.
Recently, I had a group of students that were able to carry on an academic conversation around a text they read and were able to think beyond the text with minimum redirection on my part. It was so rewarding to see how much progress they had made from the beginning of the school year!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It will be important for the student to be honest and transparent regarding their understanding of the different concepts, so the teacher has the information needed to best support them.
