About Kelsey
I am a current student at Northern Illinois University, set to graduate Spring 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Emphasis in Writing, and minors in History and French.
I am currently employed as Copy Editor of Northern Star, a student-run newspaper. My job is to analyze and edit articles for grammar, punctuation, style, and syntax.
I won the 2020 Orville Baker Essay Award for my research essay, titled "We're All Villains and Victims: Morality and Hypocrisy in Shakespeare's Measure for Measure."

I work with a new student by getting to know them first -- interests, hobbies, etc. This creates a comfortability between student and tutor, and begins the relationship stress-free.
I then ask about the student's struggles and successes in English. If applicable, I might ask to read some of their writing. Knowing how their mind works and what areas they need help in gives me a better idea of their needs and how I can help.
