About Sidney
I am an elementary education majoring finishing my third year at West Virginia State University. I have taught second and fourth at Mary C. Snow Westside Elementary and kindergarten at Conner Street Elementary. I have also tutored K-5 at Mary C. Snow Westside Elementary. I have a film understanding of crafting lesson plans, objectives, assessments, enriching activites, and the standards the children are learning.
In my senior year of high school, I decided then that teaching would be my ideal career path. I have always been passionate about education and learning.
Currently I am pursuing a bachelors degree in elementary education. I am also obtaining a reading certification as well. During my time at WVSU I have been working in the schools teaching and tutoring children.

To begin tutoring, first I would like to give the student a short diagnostic assessment in the area of study to understand exactly what the student is struggling with. Once the area is identified, I will create my own lessons to fit the student's needs.
I have worked with students with intellectual disabilities, reading comprehension issues, students with ADHD, and students with lacking motivation and behavior issues.
A recent event I am fond of happened a few weeks ago. In one of my observing classrooms, one of the children I am working ran up to me and gave me a big hug. I meant a lot to me knowing this child was so excited and happy to work with me.
