About Aidan
I'm calm, patient, and tailor my techniques for each individual student.
I enjoy helping my students reach their goals and watch as they succeed.
I first started tutoring while still in high school. While taking German, my classmate wasn't doing well and asked me to tutor him. During my undergraduate studies I worked at a tutoring center on campus, tutoring psychology, basic Spanish, and basic Japanese.
In high school I worked in a mentoring program for middle school and elementary school students. My undergraduate degree was in psychology where I studied some child development. I also volunteered at various libraries helping with children's programs, story times, and baby story times. Finally, I have my Master's in Library Science with a concentration in Youth Services.

First, depending on their age, I have them choose from a variety of books something that sparks their interest. I then have them try to read it to me, with me chiming in if they need assistance. If it seems too difficult a level, we don't abandon the book, we read it together. Then I'll choose a book that is a level down and start our lessons from their to try to build them up to where they need to be.
I've worked with babies at mommy and me story times and elementary school children at a reading program in a public library. In addition, I've taught college students needing assistance not only with the subjects they were studying, but also with study skills.
See if the teacher can give you book recommendations based on a book or genre you enjoy. If they are not familiar with the book, briefly describe it. They should be able to recommend something.
