About Renee
I began tutoring English reading and writing at the ripe young age of 12. Over 10 years later, helping students realize and create life in words on paper is still my biggest passion. From analyzing pieces of literature, brainstorming -'d researching essay ideas, and editing the final piece, I am here to help you through every step of the way. My goal is not only to help develop your technical skills, but to also empower you and give you the confidence necessary to tackle even the most difficult of essays. I look forward to the opportunity to working with you!
I have 12 years of tutoring English reading and writing to students between the ages of 5-18 and 4 years tutoring writing to students ages 18-20.
Additionally, I hold a degree in English Literature from Cornell University and am entering my first year of law school at the University of California, Davis.

Prior to the first session, I like to review a students previous pieces of writing to get a sense of their stylistic preferences. This helps me understand what approach to take and identify areas where there is room for improvement.
During the first session, I like to spend the first portion discussing what areas the student does well in and what areas they would like to improve upon. With this in mind, I like to review the students precious writing sample giving them technical advice and tips on how to improve it. In future sessions, I let the students lead the session by picking pieces to work on and ask for specific advice.
