About Mary Ellen
I am a certified educator with a Master's Degree in Remedial Reading and Language Arts. I have over ten years of tutoring experience. I work with each student to identify his/her strengths and to help him/her to develop skills to overcome academic challenges. I am passionate about helping my students grow both academically and socially. I work with parents to implement environmental and behavioral changes to enhance student success. I am available to work flexible hours after school on most days to meet your child's needs, and I will work to develop a rapport with your child's teacher.
I enjoy watching my students become more confident and excited readers. I also enjoy helping parents to better understand how to support their child who is having difficulty with reading.

I always begin working with a new student by building a relationship with the student and the parents. I meet with the student to assess his/her skill levels in the areas of reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and verbal expression. I talk with parents about specific concerns, and any additional information necessary to assist their child. Finally, I will provide a plan of action for accomplishing the identified goals, and I will provide daily feedback on the student's performance and overall progress.
