About Grace
One of the greatest joys in life is to see the lightbulb come on for a student who has been struggling. When I can help a student understand an English concept and that leads them to discover a love for writing or simply being proud of their work, that is the best feeling.
I have been an English tutor for ten months, but I have been teaching students for years in different areas of study in North Carolina and South Dakota.
I have a Bachelor's degree in European History and a certificate in TESOL.

I have always loved watching people learn and grow. I consider a day wasted if I don't learn something. So it felt natural to teach students. I started as a volunteer in high school teaching children in elementary school. Then as I entered the workforce, I was tasked with training new hires. When the pandemic hit, I decided I should put my skills to good use and started online tutoring.
I have a Bachelor's degree in European history and graduated Magna Cum Laude from college. I have been trained as a tutor through my previous jobs and have been working as a tutor for the last ten months.

First I find out what their assignment is. Then I determine how much of the assignment they understand and what they are struggling with. I will work on the main problems with the student until they are confident in their understanding. Of course, this method changes depending on the student and their needs.
I've worked with students from kindergarten to Master's degree level from all over the country.
Try to make sure you have your assignment instructions, be ready to share your project, and explain what you are having trouble with. The more context I can get, the faster we can start working!
I was helping a student proofread their paper for grammatical mistakes. They were having trouble understanding where to place commas. I gave a few examples and definitions, a few that were funny to cheer them up, and after a while they understood. They were so excited to finally understand! It was a wonderful moment.
