About Ian
Hi! My name is Ian, and I am a recent graduate of Columbia University, where I studied Political Science and International Political Economy. I am half Japanese and half American, and I am fully fluent in both English and Japanese.
I have been tutoring for over 7 years, working with students ranging in age from 12 to 19 years old. My primary areas of focus include college application coaching, SAT/ACT preparation, History, English, and Math.
I genuinely enjoy working with students and helping them reach their full potential, whether that means improving grades, boosting test scores, or navigating the college admissions process. I would love the opportunity to support your child’s academic journey and am always happy to answer any questions about my background, tutoring approach, or my experience at Columbia University.
I began teaching in high school through a program offered by my school. While I primarily worked with elementary and middle school students, I have also taught high school students.
I graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA, completing nine AP courses while competing in track at a national level. I have since graduated from Columbia University with high honors as a student-athlete studying Political Science and International Political Economy. I also have 7 years of tutoring experience.
