About Ashley
As a recent college graduate, I am intimately familiar with rigors and challenges of being a university student. I have felt the terror of recieving my first ten-page essay assignment. I have felt the dread of entering a lecture hall to take a midterm. I have even felt the anxiety of waiting for college acceptance letter – of not knowing what the future can hold. College can frightening, but I am here to help empower students to seize control over their academic careers.
In addition to helping students develop the skills that will immediately improve their reading, writing, and study habits. I will help students tackle what can be the biggest challenge to academic success: their own fears.
At UC Berkeley, I helped students who were near failing earn top grades in their Freshman Composition courses. I've also helped English Honors students complete thesis projects that spanned the course of a year. Additionally, I've helped high school students map out their college application process and develop their application essays. Students I have worked with have accepted admission to UCLA, UC Berkeley, NYU, and Yale.
My favorite part of teaching is helping students become their own masters. Often, students come to me with brilliant ideas, unique perspectives, and insight abound. However, they lack the technical skills and methods that make their ideas communicable. Once students begin to master these skills – they begin to feel more confident, curious, and free. This process of transformation is what I love most about teaching.
