About Evangelyn
Hi! My name is Evangelyn and I’m an English tutor. I graduated summa cum laude with a BA in English, and have experience interning at both publishing houses and literary agencies. I also wrote two plays, one book, and multiple poems.
I teach grammar, vocabulary, and conversation. I also love to teach literature analysis as well as essay and creative writing.
What I enjoy most about teaching is getting to know what makes you more excited to learn. Say you have a favorite TV show or movie. I would incorporate it into our lessons somehow to make it both easier to understand and more exciting!! For example, if we’re studying a Shakespeare play and you’re finding it difficult, I can draw parallels to a more modern movie like 10 Things I hate About you.
For 1984 for example, I can compare Big Brother’s brainwashing methods to modern social media behavior to make it more understandable.
I’m all about using the media to make learning easier and also incorporating the learning style that best works for you, whether it’s visual, audio, or kinesthetic.
