About Taryn
My teaching service stands out because I take the time to get to know my students, which allows me to understand how to best help them.
By making sure that I understand what my students need, and how they learn, the more effective I can be at helping them to reach their most important reading and writing goals.
I love connecting with people and seeing the magic that takes place when they learn something new.
Education:
I hold a Bachelor's Degree from UC Santa Cruz in Theater Arts, am CBEST (California Basic Skills Test) certified, and have passed the CSET (California Subject Examination for Teachers).
Professional Experience:
I have tutored both native English speakers and English as a Second Language (ESL) learners in essay writing, reading, comprehension, grammar, and conversational English.
I am also a professional freelance writer for online blogs and do copywriting for business websites and marketing materials.
My have also worked as a script and book coverage writer for Amazon TV and independent production companies.

Our first session I start off by getting to know my student. I ask about their relationship with English and what their learning goals are. I will also ask about their interests and background to get to know how I can help them better.
Next I create a strategy for how to best help them reach their learning goals.
Then, for each new session, I create a personalized lesson plan that covers one or two topics, and assist with projects as needed.
