About Carter
Writing has been a passion of mine since I was a child. In college, I discovered that I also loved teaching writing to others.
I tutored fellow college students at my university's Writing Center from 2015-2018, when I graduated with a Bachelors in History and Criminal Justice. For the past two years, I have been freelance tutoring K-12 students.
During my first year of college, one of my professors suggested I take the class required to become a Writing Tutor - she thought I would be good at it. I took the class "Teaching Writing" and started tutoring my sophomore year. I continued tutoring for the rest of my time in college because I enjoyed it so much.
I took a college level class called "Teaching Writing," to qualify to become a Writing Tutor at my university's Writing Center.

I always start with getting to know the student's relationship with school and with the subject we are going to be working on. What subjects do they enjoy? Why? What subjects do they struggle with? What about those subjects are difficult for them? Answers to questions like these help me provide help tailored to the specific needs of the student.
I have worked with elementary school students, middle school students, and college students (both undergraduate and graduate students). I have the most experience with college students, but my focus right now is on helping K-12 students succeed.
