About William
I love language, but I love students more. I am adept at finding the best way to get the point across to struggling students as well as advanced students wanting to climb higher. I have been a teacher for ten years, with experience in seventh through twelfth grade classes as well as at the university level. I hold a valid AA Mississippi teaching license and a master's degree in English from The University of Southern Mississippi. I'm also a tutor on chegg.com.
Primarily, it's the connection between student and teacher that drives what I do. Seeing that moment of comprehension in someone's eyes or watching them progress over time is beautiful. I love being part of educating the voices of both today and tomorrow. Education equals power.
I was inspired by great teachers, but particularly my tenth grade English teacher. She was brilliant, sarcastic, and tough, but always fair and approachable and concerned.
I have a master's degree in English and 8 years of experience in a high school classroom.

I engage in a discussion to gauge what the student is hoping to gain from tutoring. I review materials the student may bring to the table, and then I formulate a plan of action based on agreed-upon goals and/or assignment requirements.
I have taught and been taught by students from all walks of life. One was too poor to have a real front door on his house, while another drove a new sports car to school in tenth grade. Some were at college-level when they came to me, while some were years behind. Some didn't even speak English! Yet I found a way to help each one grow.
Communicate with them beforehand to make sure that you feel comfortable. Personality is important. Also, check their credentials to make sure they are qulaified to tutor.
I was chosen as teacher of the year for my school at the end of the 2017-2018 school year.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should have some knowledge of what they want to accomplish via tutoring. What are the weakness they want to bolster? How can they play to their strengths?

He structured his lessons in a way we could all understand. If you didnt understand something he would sit down and go over it again one on one. I had him in my 10th grade year.
My teacher went step by step trying to help me understand. He took the time I needed and did not rush or push anything on me.
Mr. Love is by far the greatest tutor I have ever had. He helped me realize the beauty behind the English language. Because of him I have a passion for literature and understanding the deeper meaning behind what is written before me.
