About Paul
I have been involved in music teaching ever since high school when I decided that I wanted to become a professional musician. I started by teaching friends in band who were interested in switching instruments, then continued through my college years.
Bachelors in Music Performance - Bowling Green State University
Masters of Music in the Contemporary Performance Program - Manhattan School of Music
Docterate of Musical Arts in Flute Performance and Pedagogy - Univeristy of Iowa (In Progress)
In addition, I have taught privately throughout my college years. During my Masters Degree, I was an instructor for the Distance Learning program at the Manhattan School of Music.

I ask that a new student bring in some music to play for me so that I can discuss and assess our lesson goals. This could include band music, transcriptions, original compositions, improvisations, or anything else. From here I will recommend other pieces, method books, or other types of music to introduce to the student.
Adult amateurs, middle school students, high school students, college students.

In my opinion, the primary motivation is simply a desire to learn more about and become more skilled at the flute and music. Music is a beatiful pursuit which you can take with you for the rest of your life. It is a way to connect with others, share your talents, learn more about the world, and develop valuble skills such as discipline, creativity, expressivity, artistry, and more.
