About Sarah
Hello! I’m pleased to be offering 1:1 flute lessons for grade, middle and high school students. I quickly developed a passion for 1:1 flute teaching after college in the mid nineties. Students of all levels and learning styles are most welcome. I’m committed to meeting each student where they are at to the best of my ability. My teaching works particularly well with those who feel a connection to the flute and want to play for the joy and interest of it.
Lessons are tailored to my student’s needs (the beauty of 1:1 teaching in a nutshell!) and can include the following:
*Longitudinal technique development
*Polishing band and other school ensemble music
*Scales and intro level improvising
*Learning our beautiful flute repertoire
*Sight reading & ensemble playing via flute duets
*And of course, NYSSMA preparation
I bring to the table a total of 18 years of 1:1 flute teaching experience, along with a BS in Music from Hofstra University and many years of post collegiate flute study with some of the New York area’s top flutists. And, from anatomy to philosophy I also find my long time practice and study of yoga wends its way into my flute teaching as well, in all ways beneficial.
