About Conlan
I am truly passionate about tutoring and teaching in general. I am currently a student at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and while there, I work as a Learning Assistant for a 3000-level German language class. I speak German not as a mother-tongue speaker, but as someone who learned the language as an American. I can offer an insight into what helped me improve, and I tutor to all levels, beginner to partner-tongue.
I began teaching when I tutored for an underclassman in my senior year of high school. I helped him with algebra and the math SAT, and I felt very comfortable teaching. After I began college, I saw the opportunity that my school's 'Learning Assistant' program had to offer, and I've worked as a teacher-helper / tutor ever since.
During the school year, I work as a Learning Assistant at the University of Colorado, Boulder. There, my responsibilities include facilitating class discussions, helping students with worksheets, and translating words or phrases. Additionally, I host a weekly office hour, or a tutoring session, whereby students have individual attention in the learning process.
In my second semester at Boulder, I took a pedagogy class, where I learned various insightful strategies for teaching.

First, I'd like to know what level the student is at, and what their goals are with learning German. This better helps me prepare necessary components of lessons and leads to a smoother transition into learning:)
The class I work with in Boulder features a wide scope of German proficiency among the students. Some students are nearly partner-tongue, while others are more beginners. I can work with any level.
