About Kevin
I've taught 6-year-olds and 88-year-olds; country- and city-folk; students labeled "gifted" and students labeled "special needs." But such things are just incidentals; what really matters is your desire to make music--and your willingness to work at it.
If you have those qualities, I'll meet you wherever you may be to make a plan for your musical goals, and work to make your journey as efficient as it can be.
Nothing is more exciting than sharing my love for and knowledge of music with my students. It a real thrill to see each skill mastered as they progress toward mastery.
Whether it is keyboard, guitar, brass instruments, or music theory/songwriting/composition, it is a privilege to 'pay forward' the knowledge and lore passed on to me by my teachers and mentors.
--Three degrees in music theory/composition: BMus & MMus (University of Western Ontario); DMusArts (University of Georgia).
--Decades of experience: piano; trumpet; guitar; songwriting & composition.
--Performing experience ranging from symphony orchestras to orchestra pits to choral festivals to college clubs.
--Decades of teaching experience in classroom, studio and online.

I always begin with a conversation to establish what the student hopes to accomplish, and where they are in relation to that goal. That conversation will lead to a general instructional plan which we'll agree upon as a starting point. Lessons are then based on that plan, and it will be modified on an ongoing basis as we proceed.
