About Bijan
My name is Bijan Afshar, I am a 20 year old flamenco guitarist and I have been playing for 13 years. I've learned from some of the best in the world and I am always looking to learn more! I have played in several paid gigs and now I want to add teaching to my repertoire. The price would vary depending on what you want to learn, but since I'm starting out, my rate would be very affordable. Flamenco guitar very unique in the United States, which is why I would like to become one of the few teachers of this style. However, I can also teach the basics of classical guitar and various pop/acoustic songs, or I can help you understand the fundamentals of the instrument if you're just starting out. You don't have to commit to any particular style with me! Just let me know what you want to learn and we can go from there! I can drive to you (depending on where you live), you can come to me (I travel back and forth from Westwood to Palos Verdes in Southern California), or we can do online lessons on zoom.
When I'm playing guitar, I never notice the time go by. Flamenco/Rumba guitar is my biggest passion. It is like an escape, and the calming sounds of music by people such as Paco de Lucia, Jesse Cook, and the Gipsy Kings never fail to put me in a trance. I'd really enjoy expanding my knowledge of the guitar and would like to potentially help others fall in love with the instrument the way I did.
