About Edward
Edward Burns is a graduate with honors from Marylhurst University in Oregon and has a music degree in Guitar Performance and an extensive musical background that includes over 25 years of performing and teaching professionally.
Besides owning and operating his own private instruction studio, Edward has taught music theory courses for the University of Hawaii, Portland Community College and several Music Conservatories and Music Academy's. Edward also teaches an online guitar course for Education To Go Distributed to 2100 Colleges & Universities worldwide. Over 4000 students have taken his popular course. His refined teaching methods, unlimited patience and easy going personality all contribute to enjoyable and rewarding music instruction.
Edward has a passion for helping students discover their inner musician. He enjoys getting to know each student and watching them progress through his detailed and structured lessons. Edward's lessons are always fun and informative.

About the lesson

I start with making sure the student is sitting comfortably and holding their instrument correctly then I discuss tuning techniques and give them a few exercises to help expand their stretch range. As the lessons progress I teach them how to read simple guitar music and within a few weeks they can play fun new music.
