About Jonathan
I've recently obtained my B.A. in History this past Spring from Brooklyn College with a cumulative grade point average of 3.78 (Magna Cum Laude). I'm currently a graduate student in Secondary Education Social Studies Program grades 7-12. I'm a history buff that identifies as a social historian. When I was an undergraduate my studies focused a lot on United States, the Caribbean, and Russian History. I've study the idealogies and have a peak interest in Marxism. I've also studied social injustices pertaining to marginalized people in the United States. My courses were and still are essay heavy. I'm a good writer and can improve on your child's writing abilities.
I enjoy researching and cross referencing facts to debunk or prove something correct. I enjoy having intellectual debates and learning about other cultures. Social Studies ties everything together from geography, civics, government to history.
As an undergraduate I worked a few summers for a fellowship and did side tutoring. Now I'm in my teaching program as a graduate student who is required to do student teaching.

My intial process begins with figuring out where the student needs support at. This is followed with me providing them with the adequate tools to understand the content, alternative documents, media, and excerpts that may be easier to get the general consensus of the topic. Then it comes down to collaboration with the student and utilizing my knowledge to assist them as best as possible to achieve the set goal.
I've worked with students from grades 3 through 9. I've had students with IEPs in my classroom and I currently work for a habilitation center since 2017. I've taught social studies and math in a class setting with a few ELL students too.

Really patient and teaches clearly
