About James
Since I was about 14 I've been teaching karate to people of various ages and skill levels, from children as young as 4 to people in high school, college, and older than myself.
In 2020 I became a substitute teacher for the Mount Markham Central School District, working primarily with middle school and high school aged children and teenagers. Often times, especially when covering a history class, I lead class discussion/work and helped students attain a better understanding of whatever the topic at hand was.
In high school I took and passed various Honors/AP classes in English and History. In college I received the Dean's List on multiple occasions, earning my BA in History in spring of 2020.
I started practicing karate in the fall of 2009. I was able to pass all of my belt exams with little to no issue, becoming an assistant instructor after earnin my green belt around age 14. At the end of my junior year of high school I earned my first black belt, and since then I've made it all the way to 3rd degree black belt.
Likewise, for the last two school years (2020-2021, 2021-2022) I've worked as a substitute teacher.

In my teaching karate I've worked with a myriad of students. From shy to energetic students, to students with ADHD or Autism, to people twice my age getting a late but surely welcome start in martial arts.

Details
Generally speaking I charge $25 an hour for lessons, if the lessons require more in-depth/complicated study and discussion we can negotiate a price depending on the level of rigor.
