About Keith
Hello Scholars my name is Mr. Gant and I have been teaching for 20+ years. I teach World and US History to middle school students. I enjoy the art of teaching and learning. I have been nominated for the New Jersey Governor Educator of the Year in 2008 and 2019 school years.
I enjoy and like strategy based education, use of Graphics Organizer, and ofcourse the use of Technology.
I know this is a cliche - but I do enjoy that Aha moment when a student gets the whole picture and can see & understand the Point of View of others. I enjoy challenging students, and having students understand how History plays a part of our everyday lives and most importantly reach the goals they have set for themselves.
After Counseling for a Treatment Program for Boys for 9 years, I decided I wanted to make a change and wanted to teach and coach. I took the Praxis Test and Passed, and the rest is HISTORY.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Sociology, and went through the Alternate Route to earn my Teacher's Certificate.

My process for working with my students is first building a rapport and then trust with the student. I tell the students about myself and I ask about theirs. Without a rapport and trust, it's hard for a students to trust in the process of learning.
I have worked with ESL Students, High Honors and Low Performing Students.
The advice I would give would be for the student to be clear about what they would like help with, when will they like to have it completed, and finally how many times will they wish to meet.
One Recent event I was fond of was being Inducted into my High School's Hall of Fame, and also most recently I learned that I will be inducted into my city where I grew up Hall of Fame.
