About Amanda
Experience working in the classroom. Experience teaching reading, writing, and social studies. I have worked with children of all abilities and I am a certified teacher in NYS. Experience with children with disabilities.
I love working with students and watching them reach their goals! There is nothing more rewarding or exciting than the look on their face when they finally understand something. I am super passionate about social studies and try to instill a love of reading into all the students I work with. Finding books they can really connect to and are interested in is key!

I spend some time getting to know the student and what they like (about school). We usually take some surveys and questionaires about their interests, likes, and dislikes about a subject. Building their trust and getting to know a little about them helps to create a better understanding of their strengths and needs. It also allows for a successful relationship where the student feels like their voice matters. A student is more likely to engage with the work of they feel like they can take ownership of their learning!
