About Jacob
Social Studies has always been one of my all-time content areas in school, aside from Lunch and Music. Inside and outside of the classroom, my students will learn more than just Social Studies; they will learn how to be thriving members of their local communities and become active citizens.
My teaching philosophy is centered on this wonderful quote from world-renowned author, Napoleon Hill: "Education comes from within; you get it by struggle and effort and thought." To see students have that "lightbulb" moment helps infuse everything I do and makes me love my job even more!
I come from a family where teaching is a common profession found. This is not because of choice, but because of a calling. My Father is a High School Social Studies Teacher, and my Aunt is a High School Special Education Teacher.
I first found my dream of being a teacher in my 11th Grade year, and the rest, as they say, was history!
I completed my Student Teaching in the same district my father and aunt work for; however, I was placed at the Middle School where I taught 7th Grade World Geography and 8th Grade American History. It was in that placement I found my niche and true calling to be a Middle School Teacher!

I have experience working with a diverse range of students and their various learning capabilities. I have experience working with students with disabilities and have IEPs and 504 Plans, I worked with Gifted Students, and I have worked with students who don't to fall into either category but carry their own unique set of characteristics and challenges.

With that said, my rates will begin at a requested minimum $10 per hour tutoring is offered to your student.
