About LYNNE
My specialty is older, stiff, inflexible, fearful riders who still want to enjoy their riding. I am trained in Germany to spot, analyze, and remediate riders' bodies with fast-acting, effective exercises on and off the horse. Afterward, they can better allow the horses' movement through their own bodies. This allows the human to synchronize their movement with the horses' motion and ride like one unit. My discipline of choice is classical, artistic dressage but I work with other disciplines as well.
It feeds my spirit to see horse/rider pairs develop a true partnership, where the human learns to understand the unspoken messages a horse sends through its body language and movement patterns, and more specifically how the rider's body affects the horse's movement and behavior. Inevitably, when the rider's body is in sync with the horse's, the horse goes better, and the rider is happier and more fulfilled.
As I began working on my own seat and solving the many thorny problems it presented, I started sharing solutions on a now-defunct "chat room," (concealed information) . My solutions proved very effective, and my assessments on target, and people from the UD site began inviting me to come teach them, or give a clinic at their location. I found that this was so gratifying both to those I taught, and to me personally, that I was able to make a business of it.
I've had my own horses for 40 years, bred a couple, got them started and competed on them. When, after a few years, I realized that **I** was my horses' biggest problem, I set about earning A Good Seat with the best instructors I could access, including Erik Herbermann and the late Walter Zettl. This took me all over the US, and eventually to Germany for an extended stay. The principles of classical artistic dressage have been firmly inculcated, and I uphold those principles in all my work. As one of my riding teacher/idols, the late, great Egon von Neindorff, said: "The Seat is the Alpha and Omega of good riding," meaning that if the rider's not right, the horse cannot be. In my quest to better understand the biomechanics of rider bodies, I studied for five years with Dr. Eckart Meyners, whose methods have been adopted by the German National Riding Federation and are required to be credentialed as a professional rider or trainer in Germany. Dr. Meyners has certified me as a Graduate Instructor in his methods, and I am one of only 20 such instructors in the USA.

I always offer an evaluation lesson before a rider commits to a regular lesson schedule with me. Not every rider/instructor combination will "click." If we're not a match, there's no charge for the evaluation lesson. If everything's good, we'll map out a lesson schedule and some goals, so we both know where we're headed, and have an idea of landmarks along the way.
The majority of my students are middle-aged women with horses who exhibit various problems that stem, on closer examination, from the riders themselves. Most are dressage riders, but I've also worked with hunt seat, Western, and recreational riders, as well as green-as-grass horses and greener-than-grass riders. I have also taught some children who are serious and talented, but find that I am not a good match for kids who just love horses and want to get on one and ride around for fun.

I have been getting lessons from Lynne for a year. Lynne is an excellent teacher. Very patient ( I am 59 and new to riding) .She has shown me various exercises to improve, balance and strength. Lynne is so good at what she does that my husband is now getting lessons from her.
Lynne is a very good natured and detailed teacher . She explains well the the nature of a horse and how our body weight and movement and the saddle fit, relate to the way a horse will respond to you. She is patient in correction and affirming in success!

Details
All lessons are given on the rider's personal horse, at his or her home stable or barn. Depending on the barn owner's requirements, I may have to share a portion of lessons proceeds, commonly 50%. So while my hourly rate is $50, I usually only put $25 in my pocket. I am willing to drive up to an hour away from Williamsport, and will discuss a gas allowance with each such student.
