About Suzannah
Suz Guthmann Tutoring provides individualized support in English, writing, literature, and academic communication for high school and college students. With over five years of experience teaching and tutoring, Suz brings an MFA in Creative Writing and current college-level composition teaching experience to every session. She supports students with academic essays, research papers, MLA formatting, AP English Language and Literature, literary analysis, and college application essays.
What sets this business apart is a balance of high academic standards and patient, clear instruction. Sessions are collaborative and structured, focused not only on improving a single assignment but on helping students develop strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. Suz works especially well with students who feel intimidated by writing or literary analysis, including neurodivergent learners and first-generation college students, and emphasizes confidence, clarity, and independence.
Suz’s approach centers on breaking complex tasks into manageable steps, teaching thesis development and argument structure, and helping students engage more deeply with literature through close reading, discussion, and textual evidence. She emphasizes rhetoric, audience awareness, and interpretation, using concrete models and targeted feedback rather than generic advice. She loves helping students discover that literature and writing are not about “having the right answer,” but about making thoughtful, well-supported interpretations and learning to articulate ideas with confidence.

Suz has been tutoring my daughter for 5 years. She has truly had an impact on her academic growth. She is nurturing and patient and really knows her stuff !!! 🌸
Suzannah has been tutoring our daughters for years and played a key role in helping our oldest learn to read. She is incredibly intelligent and has a natural ability to connect with both children and young adults, making learning both fun and meaningful. We couldn’t recommend her more!
