Welcome! My name is Heather Hansen, and I’m excited to be your mentor teacher. I’ve been an educator for over 20 years, with experience in elementary education, reading intervention, and special education across both traditional and online school settings. Currently, I teach special education with Epic Charter Schools, where I’ve been supporting diverse learners in a virtual environment for the past eight years.
Working with me, you'll find a structured yet supportive environment where questions are always welcome and learning is collaborative. I believe strongly in open communication, professional growth, and celebrating progress—both in our students and ourselves. I strive to model inclusive, student-centered teaching practices and value flexibility, patience, and humor in the learning process.
I’m passionate about helping new teachers build confidence and find their unique teaching voice. As your mentor, I’ll provide honest feedback, share practical strategies, and encourage reflection so that you feel prepared and empowered for your own classroom.
