About Kayla
Hi, I'm Kayla Fernandez! I’m a new educator with a strong foundation in teaching and tutoring thanks to my recent graduation from an Exceptional Student Education (ESE) program and a hands-on internship teaching English Language Arts.
I’ve worked closely with middle school students in both general education and ESE settings, providing differentiated instruction, academic support, and personalized strategies to help students succeed in reading, writing, and comprehension. I’ve received formal training in behavior management, inclusive teaching methods, and virtual learning tools—skills that are essential for today’s educational landscape.
What I love most about my work is helping students build confidence. I enjoy watching that “aha!” moment when something finally clicks and seeing students grow not just academically, but in their belief in themselves.
What makes me stand out is my personalized approach. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all teaching. I take the time to get to know each student’s strengths, needs, and learning style so I can adapt my lessons accordingly. Whether I’m using visual tools, guiding students through writing step-by-step, or using real-life examples to connect ideas, I always aim to keep learning engaging and relatable.
In virtual sessions, I use interactive tools, frequent check-ins, and creative strategies like games, storytelling, and discussion to make lessons fun and effective. I’m patient, approachable, and committed to helping every student reach their full potential.
