About Katie
I’ve worked with kids all of my life, whether it was summer camps, babysitting, teacher assistant, daycare, etc. I’m currently at Ball State University for my bachelors degree in Elementary Ed and 6-8 Mathematics. Consider me your peer in your classroom helping you on work, you don't have to feel pressured, anxious, or intimidated by me. I am there for your guidance on the subject matter and if I sense that the bigger issue is that you might be struggling in mental health issues, don't be afraid to just talk with me before getting started. Yes, I'm older than you, doesn't mean I won't understand how you feel. I do, and want you to feel as comfortable and at ease when learning!
TEACHING: I will explain to the student in multiple different ways, which ever is easiest for their learning style. To get the correct answer if they were struggling with the one that they learned in class. Their teachers will be fine with the different methods because as long as they have a better understanding of the context and get the same answer as everyone else, that's a win-win scenario! I try to make the subject more clear by including Game Based Learning, I know a lot of kids these days are more comfortable with learning when it's engaging or entertaining.
