About
Since 2012 our family made the choice to homeschool our three children. We began with a rising third grader, rising first grader, and pre-kindergartener . Our oldest, homeschooled through high school, graduated with honors, and recognized by a National Honor Student for his academic achievement, now attends Maine Maritime Academy. Now with only two being homeschooled, I have free time on my hands, and desire to work directly with kids other than my own.
I love working with kids one on one. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and Family Community Services from East Carolina University. I returned to college a couple years after I graduated and focused on a concentration in elementary education, birth through sixth grade. For three years I worked as a More at Four teacher in Carteret County. After a family loss, I chose to change careers. Home Health and Hospice of Carteret County became my passion. I served seven years as the Bereavement and Volunteer Coordinator for the program.
When the opportunity presented itself, my husband knew we needed to pull our boys and homeschool. Something I said I would never do. Now I am ready to share my skills with others. I enjoy working one on one, encouraging a love of learning, and being present to share in failure(s) and successes! We all have something to learn and together we can achieve more!
