About Don
As a teacher with 24 years of teaching in the public school system, I have worked with students of all levels. I have worked with class sizes of 20 students, small groups, and individual students. Instruction was designed to meet the needs of all students whether English Speakers or speakers of other languages.
Tutoring is an excellent way of helping students resolve problems they may have in certain areas to help them grow to their maximum potential.
Since Common Core was implemented, I have taught daily using the Common Core Curriculum. While Common Core has its strengths, it also has its weaknesses. I have the ability to use the strengths of the program to help the student along and compensate for its shortcomings.
I have a K-6 Teaching Credential in the state of California.
Although I have used Common Core extensively, I have also been trained in a multi-sensory method that was developed by speech pathologists known as Orton-Gillingham. This program provides an excellent basis for any phonics program.
I look forward to working with you to build the necessary skills to grow into an excellent reader, speaker, and writer of the English Language!
