About Michelle

I'm a math pro with a fully functional digital classroom. I can help supplement learning with topics from basic addition and subtraction to advanced algebra, practical math, standardized tests, and more. I have flexible hours and am enthusiastic about math. Help me help you understand!

Truly, I love watching people's eyes light up with the "aha!" moment of understanding. My goal is to help you understand where the answer comes from, not just to arrive at the correct result. The ultimate goal is self sufficiency, and a level of understanding that allows you to apply your knowledge in more advanced scenarios.

I started as a Teacher's Assistant in university. I also regularly tutored classmates throughout. Once I graduated, teaching kept calling to me, so I sought my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification. I absolutely love my English classes and I decided it was time to add another subject that I love!

On the Calculus BC Advanced Placement Exam, I scored a 5/5. I graduated in the top 5% of my 6A high school. Four years later, I graduated magna cum laude from the University Honors Program at St. Edward's University. I have a full academic career of straight A's and -- honestly! -- a love for math throughout. My mom is an engineer and we have always found ways to implement math into our daily lives!

Beyond that, I am also an online English teacher. I have over 4 years' experience teaching and tutoring various levels and subjects. In a time when so many are struggling with online learning, I'm grateful my experience can be useful to others!

My approach prioritizes comprehension. What matters most to improving your math skills long-term is understanding HOW to arrive at the answer, and WHY the answer is what it is.

I have worked with students of all ages! I have a specialization in Teaching to Young Learners (4-12), but I also have a lot of experience working with high school and college-aged students.

Find someone who makes you comfortable! You should feel encouraged to ask questions, even if it's the same question over again. If you still don't understand, then clearly it needs to be taught from a different approach!

What I love about math is that there is always more than one way to arrive at the answer. Math is finite, it is decisive. If one way doesn't work for you, find the way that does. Likewise, find the teacher that works for you! Everyone will be different and have different needs. I'd love to be the one to help you, but if I'm a stepping stone to the right teacher, that will make me just as happy knowing you found a good fit for YOU!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What is your learning style?

What kind of time, energy, and attention levels are you working with?

What measurable goal are you working toward?

What elements need to be in place to make sure that you are best prepared to receive information? (For example, food, water, caffeine, time of day, setting, teaching resources, accomodations, etc.)
