First, I will have a detailed conversation with the parents/caregivers detailing exactly what their child needs and what they expect from the sessions. I am also willing to communicate with the child's teacher to get further information if this would be helpful to the tutoring session. Furthermore, I like to obtain some personal information about the student such as likes/interest, extracurricular activities, etc. By incorporating materials that the student is genuinely interested in, often opens the mind to more learning.
I have worked with students on the general education and special education setting grades K-5. I have also done tutoring for middle and high school students during Covid as many of our older students had difficulty adjusting to a remote learning platform.
