I got started teaching when I was asked by an admin to assist another student in their work.

I would get to know them, and see where they are stuck on their work. I would let them work out the problem first and tell me step- by-step what to do. Then I would be able to see where they are stuck on and help them from there.
I have worked with students as low as five to sixteen
Find a teacher that is confident in their work, and makes no mistake. Even if they do make a mistake, because they are human, make sure they can own up to ther mistake
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Word problem questions. The question looks hard because of all the words, but if they remove unnecessary words, and kept the important words they willl see how easy it was all along!
