About Collin
Being a teacher has been my dream career for some time now. Technically I'm working towards being a physics teacher for highschool, but I'm more comfortable tutoring math concepts at the moment. I am currently in college, but I have passed college calculus with an A and I am currently taking calculus 2. I am profficient with algebra and geometry related material. I can also help in science based areas as well if needed. Growing up I've had to work with having A.D.D. so my teaching style is focused on helping students stay focused during the lesson. I know what it'sit's like to constantly be distracted in your own head. I teach through online services such as skype, microsoft teams, and discord. However, I am flexible and can work with whatever you're comfortable with. It's just easier for me to teach when I can show students my thought process when solving a problem or seeing theirs.
I enjoy watching growth in all people. Some of the greatest joy for me comes from watching others succeed.
I am in the process of taking education courses at University of North Florida as well as physics and math based courses for my degree.

Generally I prefer to take the time to see where the students knowledge level is at to determine where to start. I like to start with a few practice problems based on the material they need help on to see where their train of thought takes them. From there, I do my best to guide them in the right direction by teaching them how to critically think through a problem. If that doesn't work then I will teach them the information they may have missed or forgotten. Personally, I'm not fond of lecturing. I prefer to get students solving problems so they can learn through experience. I believe lecturing should be used sparingly for new information.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The most important question a student should ask themselves before going to a tescher is "How do I make myself clear?" Teachers want to do their best to help studsnts be their best, but the students should know themselves better than the teacher. Take time to plan what you want to say so you can effectively provide your teacher with the information they need to hear.

I don't have anything strict. I charge $20 for as long as I'm needed. What really matters to me is that the student is able to succeed. My goal is to increase knowledge and confidence in math.
