About Sawyer
Hi! I am a broadly trained Earth scientist who specializes in tutoring science, mathematics and technical writing to all ages.
I began working as a tutor my junior year of college, as I held weekly tutoring hours ('TA hours) as a part of my teaching assistant job for undergraduate geology and Earth science courses. Over the span of this four-semester experience, I assisted with beginner understanding concepts, developing study skills, and gave students the tools they needed to succeed. Mentorship has always been an important component of my life and over time, I have found great joy in helping students to achieve full understanding of concepts, and giving them the tools to be successful.
Throughout my bachelor's degree in Geoscience and my Master's of Science in Oceanography, I have been exposed to a broad range of coursework in geology and oceanography (9 semesters), chemistry (5 semesters), physics (4 semesters), biology (3 semesters) and math (through multi-variable calculus). Research experience, in addition to coursework, has also greatly advanced my technical writing abilities.
