About Thomas
My goal is to instill within students the desire to learn. I will access the students’ prior knowledge and use my skills of creating adaptable curricula to form lessons that relate to everyone rather than a selective few. I will use my two passions, solving complex problems and teaching others, to become a competent and influential educator.
After working with people from a large variety of backgrounds, I am sure I can support the needs of my students and foster a great learning environment. I am willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that I can become an amazing teacher and professor. Overall, I look forward to showing my skills and honing my abilities.
Mathematics has been an integral part of my education as long as I can remember. It used to just be a subject that I would excel at but towards the end of high school it became more of a hobby and an interest. Eventually I ran into a humanities teacher in my junior year that changed my direction as a student and a learner. She was so passionate and influential in her teaching methodology that I was inspired to do the same. I stride to implement the same passion that she had into every minute of my work.
I am a recent masters graduate with 650+ hours of experience teaching 14-17-year-olds in a classroom setting of up to 30 students and 350+ hours of tutoring 1-on-1 and group settings using a variety of styles. Combining my two passions of solving problems and teaching others, I am dedicated to creating understandable, relatable lessons, and in a relaxed learning environment.

Establish a rapport via conversation and asking questions, discover background knowledge and goals, and then use my experience to create problems and lessons individualized to best suit the student.
I have worked with students from ages 6-26, students from various cultures and backgrounds, and students that were underachievers to overachievers.
Look for someone with a solid background in mathematics, who seems dedicated to the profession, and who has great communication skills.
I started growing herbs from seeds on my windowsill and my basil plant is doing well enough to start cooking with.
