About Joanna
Hi! I'm Joanna - a high-school sophomore. I've had experience with instructing younger students and communicating with parents, and I am available to teach math and science for students grades K-9.
I can help with planning lessons, and I can communicate with parents and students! I hope to make your child's tutoring experience enjoyable, interactive, and fulfilling.
I got started teaching by co-founding a local nonprofit art organization. Prior to the pandemic, my friends and I would visit local churches to teach kids how to draw and paint. In my sophomore year of high school, I joined the school's tutoring club and became secretary, so I gained a lot more experience in tutoring children that way.
I have experience with working with kids and tutoring. As the secretary of my school's tutoring club and the co-founder of a nonprofit art organization, I've taught younger kids ages 5-15 in subjects like art, math, and English and made several lesson plans. Due to the pandemic, I've learned to use Zoom and Google Hangouts to remotely teach. I'm also ranked in the top 10% of my school's graduating class of 500 for '23.

I typically ask for what subjects the student needs help in. I also ask (if the student and parent is comfortable) for any school material, notes, or classwork so taht I can see the class's expectations and plans my lessons accordingly. I also usually ask the student about themselves (likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc.).
I've actually worked with students of all ages, and I have even worked with a few senior citizens. However, for academic subjects, I typically teach students in grades K-9.

My standard pricing system would be $25 an hour. If there is an issue with timing (for instance, a session is only 45 minutes), then I'd be happy to negotiate).
