About Jodi
I've tutored math to grade school and college students and friends for about 5 years now. I have also taught 1st grade for a year.
I love helping students with math. Math is exciting and seeing through that students understand is even better.
I used to help my college friends with their math as a math major. I decided to try to become a teacher or tutor.
BA from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in interdisciplinary studies minors in math and secondary education. I have tutored math at the University of Alaska Anchorage for a year. Also taught 1st grade in a Yup'ik immersion school for one year.

I introduce myself and ask for the first name of the student. I find out which class the student needs help with and then ask for a copy of the problem(s).
I've worked with college students and elementary students.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
One thing I always found helpful was to sit in a quiet space and read the question or problem outloud especially if its a word problem. Apply the things you have learned.
