About Jems
I am passionate about helping students reach their goals and becoming confident with their own skills moving forward. Whether thats passing a unit math test or college algebra course, I let students choose their goal and work towards it.
I understand what is like to struggle to grasp a concept through my experience as a student and 6 years as a teacher. I am patient and allow students to go at any pace that is comfortable to them to understand and use a concept.
I taught math four years at the middle school level. I was a math curriculum creator and lead teacher for two years. This experience gives me insight into being a teacher, student, curriculum designer so I deep knowledge on what teachers are looking for and how to get it down.
I taught middle school mathematics for 4 years.
I teach writing with a nonprofit currently

I zero in on that goal and create rapport by encourging and motivating the student
Ask if the student knows what they do not understand.
Work from there.
