About Aidan
I think my favorite part of my work is when students who are struggling master a new concept. Their eyes light up and they get excited. As the year goes on I can see their self confidence grow and their fear of math fade.
I started my teaching career as a literacy tutor for Literacy Firts through AmeriCorps. All I knew when I started was that I wanted to help people. I loved helping my k-2 students learn to read. The excitement they had when they finally were able to read something fluently was amazing and seeing their self confidence rise made all of the struggles worth it. When my service year was up, I decided to switch to teaching high school math because it was my favorite subject in school. Math described the world and allows us to understand what is going on around us. I have been teaching math at the high school level for 2 years and I am excited for my third year. Watching student grow and seeing them do things they didn't think that they could is the most amazing and rewarding job.
I am a high school math teacher in Tucson Az. I also used to be a literacy tutor in Austin Texas.

The first step is to create a healthy learning environment where the student feels safe to make mistakes because mistakes are a big part of the learning process. The second step is to figure out what the student knows and what gaps they have in prior knowledge. This allows us to work on the gaps before moving on to new material.

Details
My pricing system is $20 a lesson. Lessons can last between 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the students needs. I prefer to have a standard procedure per lesson rather than a per hour price because it makes it easier on parents. We dont have to pay attention to exact minutes and I don't feel like I have to stop mid lesson due to time.
