About Mackenzie
I am a Stanford PhD student with experience tutoring all levels of high school and college math. I love getting to know my students and discovering their learning style. In addition to providing help with the material, I try to instill confidence and share my excitement about math. I believe that excitement is the greatest tool that leads to success in academic pursuits, and a little bit of excitement goes a long way.
As a tutor, I most enjoy getting to know my students and watching them grow and succeed in math. In addition to academic success, I hope my students can learn an appreciation for math. I also love learning new things about math through my students. Even though I study math as a career, I still encounter interesting problems or solutions.

First, I like to learn what sort of help a student will need. Will we be working through homework, studying for exams, or learning new material? Some students want someone to help them through tough homework problems every week, where others want me to design supplemantary lessons to help them learn the material. It's important to be clear about what sort of help is required. From there, I think diving into a first lesson is the best way to see if we are a good fit.
I do offer one-time homework help, but I believe tutoring is more efffective when it is re-occurring and I can build a relationship with the student.
