About Amy
Teaching has always been an integral part of my academic and professional career. I have a BS in electrical engineering from Boston University, an MS in visual electrophysiology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and more than 10 years of experience working one-on-one with students in multiple topics ranging across the entire undergraduate engineering curriculum. My husband and I are both MIT alums and research scientists - we know firsthand how intimidating complex topics can be and we are passionate about helping students see how much they can achieve when those barriers are broken down.

Getting to know the student is as important as explaining the concepts. Depending on the topic and the tutoring goals, I spend at least one half-session building an understanding of the student's learning styles and perspectives. With students and families looking for a longer-term relationship to address fundamental learning strategies, I like to integrate these assessments throughout every session. Above all, my goal when meeting a new student is to help them feel that nothing is out of reach - any subject matter can become relatable and manageable, and I've helped hundreds of students get there!
