About Amanda
I have been teaching music theory in a college setting for over 25 years. Seeing students make new connections with the music they see on the page and the music they hear and perform is what inspires me.
My degrees include a Bachelor of Music Education, a Master of Music Education, a Bachelor of Science in Math, and a Doctor of Arts in Flute Pedagogy. During my second year teaching, I was offered the opportunity to teach music theory classes. Since then, the college Music Theory sequence has been a constant part of my teaching load. It is the best part of my job, and I hope to continue teaching students in this subject area for many years to come.
