About Kathleen
I am a traditional artists, acryllic paints, graphite and charcoal are my go to mediums. I have worked professionally as a freelance artist for more than 15 years, and with a local painting shop for the last three years.
I have worked with students who've ranged as younge as 7 to 17, and adults at our byob studio.
If you are looking to build your portfolio, or simply broaden your horizons I'm ready to help you along the way.
I enjoy working with people, the human element is important and makes everyday unique.
I started when I moved overseas to teach in China, at that time I taught English with my AA between getting my bachelors. I took the time to teach art afterschool to connect and practice english skills with my students.
When I returned to my home town, I started teaching at a local BYOB paint studio while finishing my BA.
I have gone to art magnet schools, taken art AP classes and taken a variety of art classes at the collegiate level, as well as a life long personal study.

Beginning from a place of patience and understanding, it always helps to create a friendly and easy atmosphere. I like to get to know everyone, and reviewing the basics before jumping into the deep end with students.
I have worked with younger children while teaching after school art classes at Miami Country Day, as well as teaching teens and adults of all ages at a local Painting with a Twist!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Consider your strengths and weaknesses, we can build on both but its not going to be a quick study. Art takes time to enhance ones skills.

Its a combination of time and materials, unless the materials are covered by the student or their family. Experience does affect the hourly cost, but the experience of the student also needs to be taken into consideration.
