As a student, I feel Peter is engaging and knows how to effectively connect with his student. In college, I took an art class and was humiliated by my professor who told me I had no visual art ability. From that point until just recently I never attempted to paint or draw. I relayed this story to Peter and he assured me that this negative experience could be turned into a positive one. He offered me some complimentary lessons which I accepted with trepidation. During these sessions, Peter dispelled my fear by opening my thought to new ways of viewing my environment that, in turn, translated to my ability to grasp visual art principles such as values, lighting, composition, movement, and harmony. He introduced me to a variety of tools and techniques and shared tips on how to correct mishaps. After just two lessons, I created three pieces of art I felt proud to share. But more importantly, I walked away knowing I have the ability and can now enjoy this creative endeavor. It takes a special teacher who knows how to engage, encourage, and inspire. Mr. Stilton, is energetic, extremely knowledgeable, talented and passionate about art and teaches from the heart. He has a way of bringing to light each individual’s strengths. Unlike most professors, Mr. Stilton involves the students during lectures, invites their input and encourages and praises individuality and creativity. I never felt intimidated, unworthy or inadequate during his classes. In fact, I was so impressed by Mr. Stilton, 27 years after I had taken his class on art appreciation, I hired him to give my son and grandson art lessons. Mr. Stilton is a rare find, has great artistic talent and cares about each individual. He has a way of inspiring and motivating people.
